No-exam life insurance

Which applicants qualify for accelerated decisions, how that process unfolds, and what applies if you don't.

Most insurers now provide accelerated underwriting: for those within defined age and benefit thresholds, underwriting happens via submitted answers, pharmaceutical records, driving history and associated information rather than a physical exam. Decisions sometimes arrive the same business day. On every quote shown on this website, you'll see whether testing is required, likely, or unnecessary.

What it changes

No exam doesn't mean no scrutiny. Responses are verified, and policies written on inaccurate data can be contested in the initial two-year period. Should the carrier's records or data reveal concerns, it may order testing or labs; you then opt whether to move ahead.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, you'd qualify if you're under age sixty, purchasing within the carrier's quick-decision limits, with no serious health conditions, and a year or more without any tobacco. Some carriers will substitute recent bloodwork from a doctor visit for an exam.

Paramedical examiners typically visit your workplace or residence in the Novato area for twenty to thirty minutes at no charge to you should an exam be necessary. Good health outcomes may actually result in a superior rate class, so an exam isn't necessarily negative.
